White Rock Recreation

White Rock, B.C. Recreation Choice

White Rock residents and visitors alike are truly blessed when it comes to the first class facilities available on the peninsula, and the multitude of options for spending a free day, weekend, or holiday.

White Rock and neighbouring South Surrey are joint home to the world famous Softball City, an amazing complex where people of all ages can go to watch the White Rock Renegades softball team play. Better still, the facility offers the chance to learn the game—slow pitch and fast pitch softball—and the Renegades also have a girls’ team. Try-outs are held every season for all the Renegades teams, and anyone and everyone is welcome to give it a go.

Softball-City-White-RockThe mild, relatively dry climate of the White Rock area make it a mecca for golfing enthusiasts. No less than 15 golf courses and five driving ranges are located within a 20 minute drive of White Rock city centre.

Cycling trails around White Rock are popular for enthusiasts year round. On North Bluff Road, the Centennial Park Leisure Centre and Arena offers still more year round options for fun and fitness. Ice skating starts in late September and runs right through to early March.

During the warmer seasons, Centennial Arena hosts fencing camps, as well as games of lacrosse, roller hockey and ball hockey. White Rock is home to a multitude of fitness centres, a dozen public tennis courts and two public swimming pools. In addition, those less interested in fitness still have plenty of diversions from which to choose. Every Saturday and Sunday during the summer months (weather permitting), local musicians and bands give acoustic performances in front of the Station Arts Centre and Museum. Throw in the scenic walks, the art galleries and displays, the boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops, and there’s simply no excuse for not getting out and about in White Rock.
